It's no longer an occasional nuisance, but a Berlin-wide ongoing problem: carelessly discardedcigarette butts on the sidewalk, pizza boxes or coffee cups piled up next to trash cans in the park, Styrofoam packaging, disused furniture and household appliances, outright house clearances, even construction debris and renovation leftovers carelessly dumped on the edges of forests, on the side of the road, or in front of houses and gardens. Berlin has a real garbage problem. Mountains of garbage cans can be found on almost every corner. In some districts, the situation has gotten out of control. The garbage doesn't just sit on the street, but accumulates incertain places and gradually grows into a pile.
Es ist kein gelegentliches Ärgernis mehr, sondern ein berlinweites Dauerproblem: Achtlos weggeworfene Zigarettenstummel auf dem Gehweg, Pizzakartons oder Kaffeebecher, die sich neben Mülltonnen im Park stapeln, Styroporverpackungen, ausgediente Möbel und Haushaltsgeräte, regelrechte Haushaltsauflösungen, ja sogar Bauschutt und Renovierungsreste, die achtlos an Waldrändern, am Straßenrand oder vor Häusern und Gärten abgeladen werden. Berlin hat ein echtes Müllproblem. Berge von Mülltonnen stehen fast an jeder Ecke. In manchen Bezirken ist die Situation außer Kontrolle geraten. Der Müll bleibt nicht einfach auf der Straße liegen, sondern sammelt sich an bestimmten Stellen und wächst nach und nach zu einem Berg an.
